1. Lack of Acceleration

Your turbocharger is there for a reason, right? It's to help you accelerate as quickly as possible. However, if you have noticed that your car is having a harder time accelerating as quickly as usual, then it may be an indication that your turbo needs to be repaired. 2. Excessive Exhaust

Unless you drive an electric car, you have some exhaust that emits from your car. And although a little bit of exhaust is normal, if you have noticed more exhaust than usual coming from your exhaust pipe, it could mean a variety of things, including that your turbocharger needs to be repaired. 3. Loud Shrieking Noise

Although this type of noise could mean a variety of things, including breaks, the type of shrieking noise that is caused by a bad turbo usually comes more from the engine. To see exactly where the sound is coming from, have someone sit in your driver's seat and press on the gas while your car is in park. Then, pop your hood and place your head near your engine-- is the sound coming from there? If so, it is likely your turbocharger.
